the easiest 5 stars i’ve ever given. arden’s writing is so lush and immersive and beautiful and brutal and hits every emotional point needed. i cried 3 times reading this book (the third was while reading the author’s note at the end). vasya is the best main female character i’ve ever read and i cant wait to revisit her story in the future and learn more from her each time <3

this will go down in history as the series that got me back into fantasy. the most amazing world, characters, and story all wrapped up in the quaint and quiet feeling of a fairy tale.

This is my favorite book of the trilogy. It has the magic, the twists, and the historical drama. I loved the resolution to Vasya’s story.
