I have always identified greatly with Kate's character in 'This is Us'. I knew subconsciously that the actress was bringing her all to role because for certain scenes, it wasn't acting, it was coming from a real place inside her.
This book is coming from that real place and putting it all on the table. She shares the nitty gritty and doesn't cover anything up. It's written in her voice and offers help and inspiration in small uplifting chunks.
Her spirit is bright and filled with love that is beautifully expressed through this book.
I am tempted to immediately read it again so my brain can absorb her lessons shared at a deeper level.

Part memoir, part self help book. Chrissy has a natural way of writing - you feel as if she is talking directly to you. I wasn’t aware of all the hardships she had endured in her early life!

I really enjoyed the message of this book however, when narrated the author seemed to repeatedly use a blaccent. I’m not sure I am qualified (white af) to have an opinion on this but I just thought it was a bit unnecessary and inappropriate. Encouraging readers to step up for themselves, being confident in our own wants, needs and preferences, and really digging deep to recognize the true emotions/motives behind why we feel we aren’t succeeding was the main take away from this book. I loved the message and the content. Had I read the book instead of listened I probably would’ve rated it 4.5 stars but the blaccent really threw me off.

Well that was interesting - I like back stories of people and what they went through in the past and how things ended up - the script things for AHS was so interesting to me!

I don’t know what it is about this book - whether it’s my love for Chrissy Metz, Kate, This Is Us, words of wisdom, life coaching, hilarious writing, or something else altogether - but I couldn’t put it down. Not only that, but I’d happily pick it up again. I just love her perspective on life. It’s funny how she talks about going to a life coach... when I feel like she should BE a life coach! If not that, I’ll happily settle for her being my new friend.

I love how inspirational Chrissy’s book is. Her words and her advice just resonated with me. She walked through so much in her life and let it build her up to who she is now instead of letting it all work collectively to break her down. I Listened to the audiobook and I think that having her read it made all the difference in the message being sent out.
