A collection of short, sweet, and deeply emotional stories.

My favorite was Grits Girl, a sweet romance about a girl, her grits, and the love of her life.

The switching narration was a perfect way to breathe life into each of the stories.

Beginnings and Endings: A Selection of Short Stories

Beginnings and Endings: A Selection of Short Stories by Jane Suen. Is a wonderful trilogy of Short Stories you will fall in love with. And perhaps maybe, bring a tear or two to your eyes.
Grits Girl, is a sweet story about a lovely couple , who is just starting off their life together. Still discovering stuff about one another, especially a love for grits.
The Accident, is a heartbreaking story about life and how things can change in a blink of of an eye. Live every day, like it’s your last… tomorrow is NEVER promised!!
The End of Summer, is about two men who are determined to put the past behind them and move on. Life is full of surprises, you gotta go with the flow and make the best of of it!!
This is a really quick and entertaining read. Each story is intertwined to one another. This is my second time reading this author. It’s a little different, but enjoyable just the same! Great job, Jane!! Until next time!!

Beginnings and Endings by Jane Suen is a collection of short stories, and I loved them. When she said Short story, she meant it! They are super quick, around 10 pages each, but they were great. There was enough detail and events packed into those pages, that I connected to each one. Earns the 5 star review, individually and as the collection. Recommend to anyone who has 20 minutes but wants some good content.
Grits girl was a sweet story, about a girl and her love for grits, and the relationship that blossoms from that. The couple had an interesting beginning, and the story has a perfect ending.
The second story, The Accident, was a little more intense, and ironic. It had more of a somber feel to it. This one touched on sadness, with the theme being how quickly life can change, in ways you least expect them to. This story was sweet, but also sad.
The third story, The End of Summer, was my favorite. It was more sentimental, with the main character reminiscing about his childhood. However, it turns a upsetting memory into a great experience, by reliving it as an adult, through a child. The story did not go the direction I expected it to, and I liked that. Caught me off guard.
The bonus story, Pick Me was funny. I knew from the start it was told from a different perspective, but I couldn't figure out what it was about, until the very last word of the story. Creative and cute way to end the book.

Though a short book of short stories, it will make a large impact on your heart. Every story makes an impact and leaves a message. You will have to figure out that message. I did find a tear rolling down my cheek at times because it was very heart warming and sad at times also. Quick read and highly recommend.

Beginnings and Endings By Jane Suen

5 Stars!!!!

I just didnt realize how fast I was going through this book till I came to the end! I enjoyed the three short stories along with the bonus one so much that I just didnt stop reading till the end. This book is perfect if you want to read something but you dont have much time to do so! Each story was quaint and grips your attentions fully and is worth a 5 star on its own merit! This book was just a joy to read.

I really liked the first story Grits Girl. The way it is centered on the girls love of grits and how the whole relationship between her and the man came about! it is just an endearing short story and was quite fun to read.

The second story the accident really was well written and very deep. It really drew on my heartstrings this story. The irony of the little plot twist in the story was eye opening and very attention grabbing. It was a very heart grabbing story.

The third story The End of Summer is another sort of emotionaly sweet sentimental story that had me again glued to the page and I just couldnt stop reading. The whole dynamic of the hitchhiker and the father and son is quite engaging. The emotional ending also gripped me and I really enjoyed reading this story.

The Bonus short story of Pick Me was a cute little ditty that highlights that even stuffed animals have feelings too. It was a very endearing short story that was an absolute joy to read and was a lovely little bonus to the book. I look forward to hopefully reading more of this authors work and it is very well written and light.

These cute short stories could have each been the first chapter of a book. They drew me in and really made me think about things a little different. My first time at the carnival or things that can change your whole life in the blink of an eye. These were really well written and will be looking for longer works by this author.

This is a book of four short stories which show how beginnings and ending can affect lives.

Story one is a couple sharing breakfast in a cafe, story two is a tale of how love overcomes all obstacles, the third story is a meaningful road trip gone right and the final story is about being picked out of a group.

A delightful selection of short stories which cheers the heart up.

This is a set of three short stories. Each one has their own easy to read plot. The first is a happy love story between to college students. The second is a haunting but realistic story of a soldier back from war. The third is a happy but also a tragic story of a father and son trip to a carnival and farm. All three of these short stories I can see being built on and added to other books or becoming books of their own. The author wrote them well and I can't wait to read more in the future! If you want some small quick stories to read these ones are great!!

This is a lovely collection of short stories! The collection includes Grits Girl, The Accident, The End of Summer and the bonus story Pick Me. Even though they are short the do pack a punch, they are really detailed and descriptive and they really do get you thinking about things. I think it was ‘The Accident’ that really brought that home to me how life can change so quickly and when you least expect it. I think I could have happily read a longer version of any of them and that bonus story at the end ‘Pick Me’ certainly did bring a smile to my face!!! All of the stories were so positive and I really did enjoy them.
If you are looking for a short read then this collection of stories by Jane Suen won’t disappoint!

Soulful and insightful
This little collection of well-written stories will get you thinking. Every story is different but draws you in and takes you on a little trip. I connected with each of the characters and felt their emotions shine through from happiness to heartbreak and everything in between. Even though each story is short it still felt complete. Highly recommend.
