After reading You’d Be Home Now, I knew this was going to be just as good. Turned out it was better. This book was devastatingly beautiful. The characters were full of flaws, some more than others, every person just trying to stay alive the best they could. It was raw and reflective of so many people’s experiences. Beautifully written.

Not for the faint of heart. Tells the story of the heartbreaking reality for too many people. Writing was a little hard to follow sometimes, but the story still took you for a ride with the character and gives the reader room to consider difficult, heavy subjects. Check content warnings if you or your child are considering reading.

This was really different from what I usually read, so I'm having a hard time rating this book. It was very fast paced so I read it quickly, but the topics were anything but lighthearted. The first half of the book I didn't really connect with a lot, but I got a more into it once our main character got out of the facility she was in. The ending didn't satisfy me all the way, but I was content with it. Definitely check trigger warnings before reading this one.

It’s not often at all that books make me emotional, but this one did. It is so incredibly heavy, dark and sad, but it is also beautiful and hopeful at times. Although I can’t relate to most of the content on a personal level, I fully empathise with the characters and situations throughout. This book was so well written, really enjoyed the wave of emotions I went through, in a bitter sweet way.
