Wow, this was a great one. An incredibly original story-line with fierce characters. Eiress and Landon live in two completely different worlds. The story continually switches between the two and the contrast is basically between light and dark. It's fascinating. Landon is in our world. He has normal parents, a normal girlfriend, a normal life. Eiress is in a castle of nightmares, chained and forced to go to balls with the souls from hell. She's lived there for fourteen years and her strength is astounding.
The story is well-crafted and I love that it's based on an old scary tale that every child knows. Saying Bloody Mary three times into the mirror will bring her forth. It's a myth that has been made real in this book. Frightening and intriguing. This isn't a book to miss.

DANG I needed to read this novella! I've been waiting SO LONG for such a stunning standalone book. Don't get me wrong; I ADORE series books, but I DESPERATELY needed something with a solid, single beginning and end. And I could NOT have been luckier to have fallen upon a beauty like this standalone book. It was superb!
Landon is a boy in his late teens, wide receiver of the football team, and an all-around good kid. He has never been in serious trouble in his life. The catch? He cannot see his own reflection in the mirror past the insurmountable beauty of the girl trapped within; The Princess of the Damned. He has watched her grow since before he could remember, and he will do anything in his power to save her from the hell in which she resides. He can do no less for loving her so much.
Eiress is a girl, also in her late teens (or so I assume). Fourteen years ago, she was just like any other young girl, with a mother, brother, and little sister whom she adored. Then one night she played the deadliest game of her life, and for that she has been damned to spend eternity just on the edge of hell. There was no hope for her, nothing to keep her going, until the day she felt 'him' on the other side of her mirror. He is what keeps her strong, what gives her hope, the sole light in her endless darkness. And she will risk her soul to protect that light.
I thought that the romance angle between these two would be a stretch to believe. That it would feel cheap in some ways. But OH MY GOSH! I was total goo when it came to them! *dreamy sigh* I LOVED these two, as friends and more. They made my heart swell and ache and proud and despairing and just ALL THE FEELS!! Wow.
Highly recommended to those looking for a great standalone book, and those who enjoy the paranormal. If you're a fan of the afterlife, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!! If you love a little romance and acts of bravery and strength in your characters, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. Honestly, if you live and breathe reading, take up this little novella and enjoy the ride.

This was the most emotional book I have ever read in my entire life! I had tissues I randomly reached for. I randomly shouted 'eyes' with many exclamation points causing my household to look at me like i had lost my mind and i swore more than once that if this didnt end in a HEA i would never get over it. As to whether or not it did you will have to read to find out but first let me tell you a bit about it. It is sweet. the love story is the sweetest, kindest, purest more innocent type of love to ever exist. It puts Romeo and Juliet to shame. This was a fast paced story that made me feel everything one can possibly feel in so short a time I thought i would implode. Luckily i didnt. i honestly couldnt have loved this more. i just want more and more of this couple and story line! so amazing that everyone should read it.

I was on the edge of my seat throughout much of this story. It is a unique fantasy/paranormal love story unlike anything I have ever read. And yes I do mean love story not romance. The love is deeper and more complete yet pure and clean. Oh the joy of touching your adored ones hand indicates total mesmerizing and nearly debilitating happiness that we can try to imagine but hardly ever achieve. But it was awesome to read about and the action combined with the terror makes this book highly readable.

This is kind of like the story about Bloody Mary but behind the scenes. I listened to the book on Audible and over a long time period so maybe that's why I didn't love it as much as I loved the other book I read by Wendy. It was good though and I enjoyed it. I really enjoy the dual POVs it's one of my favorite things in books. I also liked the fact that I can listen in the car with my boys (14,12) and it would capture their attention as well. Ms Knight definitely knows how to weave a good story, it still managed to surprise me. Very cool take on the behind the scenes. I hope there is more in the series soon.
