I loved the Louise and Tina stories, but not so much the Gene ones. I purchased this trade paperback at my local comics store and was not obligated to review it in any way.

As you guys probably know is that I have a hard time with comics. This luckily was one of the funnier ones that I have read.

I love Bob's Burgers, and the accompanying comics are always familiar and comforting, but they never quite live up to the fun of the television show. This collection had two stories featuring Tina (inspired by Casablanca and Romeo and Juliet), two stories featuring Louise (a mystery involving exterminators and an X-Files style parody about disappearing sandwiches), and two stores about Gene (an under the sea musical adventure and a Peter Pan parody). Most of the stories were a bit disappointing, and my favorite was the sandwich mystery, which is continued in future issues. Overall, it's still fun to read, even if it only makes you want to rewatch your favorite episodes.

This was fine, but I expected to enjoy it more than I did. The exterminator story's resolution felt a little weird and culturally insensitive to me, so I didn't love that one. Tina's stories were definitely the highlight for me.

Received from NetGalley.

I have a confession to make: I STILL haven't watched the tv show. I know, it's bad. Ever since I once got a single issue of the Bob's Burgers comics I've been told (and also I've really been meaning) to watch the series as I've enjoyed the comics.

I've heard that if you love the series, you will also love the comics. I can add to that: even if you haven't seen the series, you can still have a lot of fun with the comics. It contains sort of constant parts (like Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction and Gene's Musicals) together with some more random parts.

Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
