Yet another fantastically written book from the Zion Covenant series. I love the new characters introduced in this book- they are all so varied and with different stories and experiences. I greatly admire the research that went into the writing, and look forward to reading the next book!

Why oh why can't I manage to finish this book. I have been trying for months and I can't get into it too many new characters. Read the first 6 of the series I love them so so much but these books feel like snapshots of random people of the time in the world not a continuing story of the characters.

I was disappointed yet again as I alluded to in my review for book 7. The final three books of the series simply do not live up to the somewhat high standard set by the first six. This book is bogged down by too many unfamiliar characters and a lack of connection for those characters to the previous books in the series. Of the original main characters only John Murphy makes brief appearances throughout. Another detractor? The short length. This works against the authors in that everything, especially the love stories, are so rushed that they become almost unbelievable.
The prose itself is still really good, as is their historiography. Those are the only reasons that this book will remain on my shelf. (Well...those and the fact that I would have an incomplete series if I donated the book. :D)
