I'm not in a great head space so reading is just a struggle at the moment.

I did think this was a good read. I don't think I can say I enjoyed it more than a normal fairy tale but this was an interesting take on it.

This one was close to getting 4 stars but the last two chapters bumped it to 3. 5 stars. The last two chapters was rushed to me. Also how Elle was treated by Servin and the rest of his people after the real truth come out disappointed me. It felt it very cliche how none of them believe her and refused to listen to her but the little boy. All in all it was a good retelling of BATB with a interesting twist.

I've read several "Beauty and the Beast" retellings, and this is one of the best so far. It's interesting that even though we all know how the story will end, a well written book can still suck you in and keep you glued to the pages to find out what happens next. I devoured this book in about a day, because it is just such a page turner.
Definitely recommend as a quick, fun read.

This was the best re-telling of beauty and the beast that I've read so far!!!

As far as fairy tale retellings go, this one is really good. Changes things up, isn't the same old same old, they don't "fall in love" over three days time, the characters are fun and sassy. If you like fairy tales, I would recommend.

I wish goodreads would finally update the ranking to give half stars this book really deserved 2.5. I love the story of beauty and the beast it has always been my favorite, but I felt this book took way to long to get fun and interesting and fun. I really felt I got to know severen but everyone else's characters really fell flat, perhaps with some of them being focused on too much for no reason. I did enjoy joy the last bit of this book though.

Loved this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. What's awesome about this "series" is that you can read any of the books in any order, because they're technically all standalones!

Beauty and the Beast are not my favourite fairytale but are one of the best fairytales to adapt and re-imagine. I love this version with a complex beauty and a beast who is protective of the people he is responsible for and his (undeserving) brother.

Elle is a funny heroine with a stubborn fortitude to rival the reclusive, moody Severin. The romance was organic and unwanted from both ends making it funnier and more loveable.

As previously stated, the ending has one of my favourite tropes, where characters are separated at the end for some reason or circumstance, whether it is duty or obligations, a misunderstanding, a fight, or simply personal growth away from a situation or person. I love it. I love the time lapse and the realisations it brings out. So I was primed to love this ending but it didn't feel entirely right. I think it was the fact that Severin was so unable to listen to Elle's story, her situation and the reason for her deception. I hoped he would love her enough to try and listen but I guess he needed time.

Anyways great re-imagining to a classic story.
