I wonder what it is that can make a person (me) love one book intensely and then turn around and dislike a very similar book - by the same author? This book had all my favorites. It had a village, it had villagers, it even had old ladies (well one of them was described as middle-aged, which I guess was as good as dead in those days). I should have liked it. I did not.
I did not like Luke Fitzwilliam, the mercifully retired police officer (I say mercifully because he must have been terrible at it) and main character of this story. Nor did I like his love interest. They were bland characters, just there to fill a role and carry out the plot. I did not like the plot and I did not find the resolution all that reasonable. Two stars because I didn't hate it. Now back to the trusty Tommy & Tuppence.

I never thought I would be giving an AG book a more than generous 3 stars, but here we are. This book is not as inspired as her other work. The characters here were not likable, specifically the protagonist Luke Fritwilliam. The twist wasn't well thought of. Everything was just subpar... and yeaahhh Murder is Easy is as mid as they come. I suppose this is Miss Christie's filler episode. If you enjoy cozies you may still be entertained by this one. It is still Agatha afterall.
