A clever mystery thoroughly committed to its oblique telling. While the solution is obvious, it is very much only present in subtext, which allows for the characters to dance around the traumatizing subject of the murder (and well as
Spoilerthe child abduction incident years later
). This all makes for a compelling kind of fog as all parties struggle to escape the past and exist in the present. Clumsy in some parts, but skillfully translated and worth a look.

A short and unnerving story of the characters surrounding a beautiful high school student’s murder. It primarily follows the victim’s younger sister and hops POV to the suspects / classmates as they grow into adults and deal with the psychological fallout of this traumatic event. Overall very melodramatic in that cold, lowkey unhinged Korean style. Quick to read though the constant insistence on invoking the color yellow was clumsy.

Wasn’t for me. I found it too subtle (the perpetrator and aftermath is revealed through only a few, sparse clues). I can’t say it was gripping, or haunting—more resigned to the aftermath of death and grief.

Not sure what I think about this book. It's told from 4 perspectives, looking back on a murder. I think my biggest reflection is that it should have been longer.
