DNF...I mean, no offense to any Parrotheads that might be reading this, but it’s a book written by Jimmy Buffet. I really didn’t think it would be good. I only read it since it was the book paired up with the Broadway show Escape to Margaritaville for my book club. Let’s just say I enjoyed the show much more than the book.

Would’ve enjoyed a full-length story of one or two of these, but let’s just say Jimmy found his true medium by telling his stories through song

This was Buffett's first book and he has spent a lot of time on the best sellers list after that. His introduction to the second edition looks at his love of reading. The story about the trip to Cuba is my favorite. I'm sure there are many copies of this book with water stains and sand in between the pages from being taken on a beach trip.

I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would and it makes my heart happy. I loved the references to the songs in his tales, and I especially loved the based-on-truth tales in the Son of a Son of a Sailor section. Having read this, I feel I could listen to Buffett share tales for days without getting bored. Such a story teller.

This was just an OK read for me. I liked the second half of the book, where he starts telling stories about his own life, the best.

I bought the book last summer in his Margaritaville shop in Key West, when we did our US road trip. As a Belgian fan (Europe), it's sometimes hard to get a hand on Jimmy Buffett material (thank you Amazon), that's why the shop was high on my things to do when in Key West... Unfortunately only 1 book was available (a lot of nice t-shirts and caps were bought also).
I had fun while reading the book, but I prefer his music over this book. Maybe it's because I'm an avid reader, but then again I'm also an avid music lover and I like all of his music.
If you're looking for something casual but funny to read, don't hesitate this book has you covered.
