In some ways, this was the best one. because Jacob is funny. But Meyer does him too many injustices, and he acts terribly out of character, in my opinion. No, I care not that he is her character. He's not like that!

Jacob could have been excellent. But he isn't. Tragic.

And even Jacob's potential excellence was not enough to make up for stupid sex scenes, sparkles, and demon children.

This book...it's so incredibly disturbing and yet intriguing. I hate it.

First of all, how are the characters (except Edward, somewhat) not developed at all? How does one write four books without ever giving any of the characters some sort of development? I mean we can always argue that Jacob's view of the vampires changes (only because he 'imprints' on Reneesme) but that's still almost negligible. Second of all, the plot of this book is such a big mess. I guess even Stephenie was getting tired of this series and just wanted it to end but seriously, what was with this book?

The entire marriage/honeymoon thing is just...weird and adding in a vampire hybrid fetus into that mixture was not a good idea.

Also can we just talk about Rosalie's character? I actually liked her in book three but in book four she becomes such an asshole. And even with Stephenie trying to push the 'women need children to feel complete' agenda, it was such a shitty way to destroy her character. Like yeah, okay, Bella wanted the kid cause she's an idiot that way but Rosalie's reason for helping her was simply because she wanted the kid for her own and didn't care if Bella died in the process. And then Leah later justifies it as 'women need kids' you can't hate Rosalie for that. That is such an insane (and misogynistic) narrative to push forward. I hated every moment of reading that part.

And then there's the Jacob imprinting on Reneesme thing. Although, it's perfectly clear that that was a plot device but it's still borderline Pedophilia. And the justification that he doesn't love her that way yet doesn't work because he'll be practically grooming her to be attracted to him. But of course, Edward and Bella are okay with it (eventually) because how wonderful! They have a readymade groom for their child!

This book...I absolutely abhor it and I really want to ask Stephenie, what the fuck was she thinking?

It speaks volumes about how I didn't like this book even when I read it for the first time at 16. I'm so happy that at least my 16 year old self had some sense.

2.5 ish!! I finished this one just to say that I officially read the series. I’ve watched the movies a ton over the years and started reading the books last year and I must say, I do prefer to movies. I think reading the books now that I’m older may have contributed to a harsher rating. I just didn’t really enjoy the writing or the storytelling. It sits at a 2/2.5 for me.

*Spoiler Alert*

The perfect ending to the perfect story! Loved it! The only thing that bothers me is this whole Reneesme+Jacob storyline. I never understood why this was necessary. But anyway, I'm glad Edward and Bella got what they wanted. They deserve to be happy forever. These books will always be very special to me.

Worst of the bunch. Even my excited teen self five years ago couldn't read this one more than once and a half.

I wanted to LOVE this book! I really did, but I just can't say that I did. It was good, and I liked it, but it wasn't amazing. I think she wrapped up the story, but I also think that she was just setting it up for more books about different characters. Liked it, but didn't love it.

Boring. It started off great but as the story progressed and you met more and more of the vampires you get quite bored - and it's only because Bella goes into such precise detail about each power and appearance and it's totally unnecessary. I put it off for a while, actually, simply because it bored me so much. It had the potential to be so much better.
