I normally don't like writing reviews for books so long after I read them because I don't always remember why I give them a certain rating, but here goes a try.

I did enjoy this book. I thought it was a good small town romance. This was the first book I've read by Lacey Baker, and it was well written. I liked the relationship between Allie and Ryan as well as the town itself. They mystery part was intriguing and kept me reading.

Read this if you love:
- Matchmaking
- Small Town Romance
- Third Person Writing Style

If you're a fan of Hallmark type movies, like I am, then this is the book for you.  It will give you all of the feels as you're reading and puts you right there in the midst of a movie.  I loved most of the characters (as you know, there always has to be someone you're not going to stand) as well as some hilarious elders that will probably remind you of some of the elders in your life/family and such a loveable and rambunctious dog. The flow, character development as well as growth were enjoyable.  And there were lessons sprinkled throughout the story, which was just icing on the cake.  Such a great start with the series, and I'm hoping all of the siblings will get books.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book follows travel Allie Sparks and Ryan Parker. Allie is a Travel Journalist whose usual column lets people know where not to go but as times change the critical view of places isn’t as welcomed. With her Job on the line Allie heads to Cresent Island in hopes of finding positive things about to add to her column. Ryan is looking to find investors for his family’s barbecue sauce to aid in expanding the business.

They have a meet cute with Allie when his dog, Optimus, jumps on her causing her to fall in the sand. The attraction from just their looks is instant. They meet again when Allie visits the Barbecue restaurant that is owned by her best friend, Sofia’s, family. She finds out that Ryan is Sofia’s brother. Sofia has a severe ankle sprain ,walking boot and all, and is unable to show Allie around so she enlists Ryan to take her place. The more time Allie and Ryan spend together the more they both start to realize they are developing feelings for each other.

Lacey Baker’s writing allows you to visualize the story as it happens through the very descriptive wording. She provided a full backstory about Allie’s family that allowed me to understand why Allie is the way she is and also showed the opposite view of what a loving family is when describing the Parker Family. This was so a cute read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Reading this book felt like the first sip of an ice cold glass of lemonade. Talk about refreshing! Lacey Baker served up the perfect romance that will have you in your feels. A travel writer, Allie Sparks showed up on Crescent Island looking for the perfect story. With a push from her boss to write a heartwarming story, finding love was last thing on Allie’s mind.

A bit of a pessimist, it doesn’t take long for Allie to discover the magic of the island and start to understand “that love will always find a way…” I really enjoyed the way the author incorporated other aspects of love by including elements of family and community. I believe that familial and platonic connections set the foundation for the way people extend themselves to their romantic partners, playing a huge role in how they go about developing those relationships. And we kind of see this with Allie and Ryan as they come from two different family dynamics which has a slight effect on their views of love.

All in all, this was a great read and I’m currently looking up vacation spots, so that I can find love on a island this summer.
