Que saudade de um boa fantasia. Fiquei um pouco confusa no começo, com tantos nomes, teorias e cenários, mas aos poucos tudo foi se encaixando e fazendo sentido.

Adorei a história, personagens e espero gostar ainda mais da segunda parte e da conclusão.

On page 314 of the german hardcover version, we find this:

Er trug einen mit roter Seide und Hermelin gesäumten Umhang, der zu dem Gewand seiner Verlobten passte. Er war mit roter Seide und Hermelin gesäumt, und ein Wams mit goldenen Knöpfen.

I don’t know whether it’s the fault of the translation or the original, but the writing is stilted and distancing, not immersive.

I didnt’t connect to the characters, the plot was meandering and, althought it had the audacity to sprawl over so many pages, also very predictable and not well paced. The first 100 pages were the most boring string of words one could image.
The worldbuilding had some nice elements, but seemed a bit naive and shallow at the same time.
I enjoyed the absence of some horrendous and overused fantasy-tropes though.

Vorab: Das Buch wurde im deutschen in zwei Teile aufgeteilt; ich werde es hier als Ganzes bewerten.

Objektiv betrachtet ist Der Orden des geheimen Baumes von Samantha Shannon, übersetzt von Wolfgang Thon, kein Highlight für mich.
Ich mochte nicht alle der vielen POVs - Tané und Ead haben es mir angetan, alle anderen waren mir ein bisschen zu austauschbar. Zum Ende hin haben ein paar Figuren ihre eigene Agency etwas verloren. Und das Finale war generell recht hastig erzählt, die Plotpunkte wurden teilweise zu simpel aufgelöst. Die große Bedrohung ist einfach da, weil böse. Vor allem im Vergleich zu anderen High Fantasy-Reihen fehlte es da, trotz Detailreichtum, an Tiefe.

Auf der anderen Seite… das Buch war VOLL von High Fantasy Elementen, ich hab es so gefeiert! Drachen! Magie! Aber vor allem liebte ich das GEFÜHL, das ich beim Lesen stets hatte. Wie eine warme, kribbelige Elektrizität auf meiner Haut. Der schöne Schreibstil, der wunderbar geflossen ist, diese vielen Assoziationen zu Dingen, die man aus der Fantasy schon kennt, die sanft erzählten zwischenmenschlichen Momente. Auch die sapphische Liebesgeschichte war sooo schön. Gut, der Plot an sich ist relativ simpel, aber für mich hat es gut als “Einzelband” funktioniert - mit spannenden, intensiven Momenten als auch mit langsamen, detailreichen Abschnitten. Eine absolute Wohlfühl-Fantasy, die 100% zu meiner aktuellen Lesestimmung gepasst hat und mir alles gegeben hat, was ich in dem Moment brauchte. Die Kritikpunkte sehe ich total - aber... sie störten mich einfach nicht wirklich.

Deshalb habe ich ganze 4,5 ⭐ vergeben. Manchmal ist es nämlich einfach das: Eine schöne Lesezeit zu haben. So subjektiv sind Sterne-Bewertungen
