One of my favorite series as a kid! For a year I was even signed up with scholastic where I received the whole series in paperback and got to do little fun crafts and things. :) I've watched COUNTLESS episodes with my mother and had fun comparing the books to the show. This series will always hold a special place in my heart.

This read more like a rough draft than an actual novel. Very short. Repeated a lot of the same material that was in These Happy Golden Years.
Makes me wonder what the history of this novel is. Published after her death?? Found stuffed in a drawer somewhere??
Definitely something to Google later...

I found all of the other Little House books to be informative, and story-like. This book, in contrast, disappointed me. It felt like a bullet diary of wins and losses. I mainly came out of it with a vast impression of Almanzo's poor financial luck (some caused by his idealism; others, by circumstance).

Reading some of the other reviews, apparently this was published posthumously, and would not have been a bit different otherwise. I wish that was clear before we started it. It's certainly a lackluster finish to the series.

This was an amazing finale to the series. I loved every second of reading these books. Laura Ingalls Wilder is such a talented writer and I wanted to be her soo many times.
