Read this cuz my brother loves this series and was encouraging me to read it. It was really cute at the time and i still think it is.

Kinda kiddish and a bit cliche in storyline but I still liked this one - it was nice and fun and another CLAMP classic.

Oh dude, hold up, this is the prequel to Chobits? Suddenly I find this series much more interesting! :D Aaaand now that I've read the back I see they did indeed announce that right there in the summary.^^; This is what happens when you don't bother reading the back because it's CLAMP, doesn't matter what it's about, you're reading it no matter what.

ANYWAYS. This is kind of on the weak side for a CLAMP series. Battle stories are difficult to make interesting in manga format and the fact that Misaki is preternaturally gifted at Angelic Layer doesn't help. There isn't much conflict when she wins every single fight she's in. The characters are kinda cute though! Could have used more time spent developing them but the friendship dynamic between Misaki, Tamayo, and Kotaro is fun. Icchan is kind of a mad scientist parody, I'm going to need more depth before I can actually care about him. :/ He's not even all that funny to make up for it. But hey, with only two volumes, the series isn't asking too much of me. Mostly looking forward to rereading Chobits with the Angelic Layer backstory in mind. 3 stars

If you like mahou shoujo, it is similar but it has intsead sci Fi elements.

I've been working my way through the new manga that we have purchased for our collection at the library. Unlike Hikaru No Go and Yotsuba&!, this one doesn't really hold my attention as an adult reader. It's a straightforward adventure-ish story with little in the way of character development. I also found the reproduction of the art to be somewhat shoddy, and much of the time it was difficult to discern what was happening during the action sequences.
