A very cute whodunnit with a well thought out plot. I loved the ice cream theme throughout the story paired up with amateur sleuthing. Highly recommend for a cozy fall mystery!

I was excited to read this book at first. Mystery novel featuring a black lead? Black owned family business? Yes please! I liked the close “knitness” of the Crewse family.

However, this book took me awhile to finish. It moved slowly and I got bored. Not to mention Win and her friend Maisie’s antics definitely had me annoyed and rolling my eyes more than a few times.

I almost gave up but I really don’t like to DNF books. Plus I kept hoping that if I just stuck with it I’d change my mind and enjoy it more. Overall I gave this book 3 stars. I found it to be OK. It had potential but it just wasn’t for me.

‘A deadly inside Scoop’ is a cute and cozy murder mystery about an ice cream shop owner, who tries to solve a murder for which her father is blamed. This sounded right up my alley and I knew I had to give this book a go.

What I liked about this book were the family dynamics and the banter between the characters. The mystery was also pretty okay and fun to solve, even though some things were pretty obvious and the main character and her friend seem clueless and naive at times.

My main complaint though has to be that I found the characters all pretty forgettable and within one hour after finishing it, I already forgot their names.

I don’t know yet if I’ll continue this series, I think it was fun and okay for a quick read but I’m not totally sold on the series.

Every time I see a low overall rating for a book written by a woman of color, I’m going to immediately disregard that. Like the insanity that this is one of my lowest overall rated books according to Goodreads. That should be a crime.

And it’s so messed up that I see this with BIPOC women authors ALL THE TIME. It’s disgusting.

Anyway, I loved this. It was so cute. I love the family dynamics and hearing about the ice cream shop! The murder and subsequent sleuthing made sense which doesn’t always happen in cozy mysteries.

Overall, well written and fun cozy story!

New to me author and I really enjoyed this book! I liked the narrator too, which is always a plus. Win and Maisie kept me laughing. The mystery was great- I couldn’t figure out whodunit.

This was exactly what I was looking for. It was cute and entertaining with a little mystery.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and will likely continue reading the rest of the series.
