This was really good. It started off quite dark and depressing tbh. It remained dark but once the main MCs were together they remained together the whole book. It didn't feel like it dragged at all. I surprisingly didn't find the heroine Dahlia annoying either. She had a lovely inner strength that paired with her stubbornness born out of loyalty made her worth admiring. She thankfully didn't act rashly with a TSTL attitude like most heroines. I loved the hero Nikolai. He had to rise up like a Phoenix to avenge his family and for their survival. The things he did to keep his family fed and to rebuild their legacy was heartbreaking to read. He carried such shame and guilt as well as what seemed the world on his shoulders. He was a great Alpha and big brother and mate. I adored when the turn around happened and he realized how precious Dahlia was and almost losing her was an eye opener for him.

Overall this was an interesting and engrossing omegaverse read. I enjoyed it in one sitting (who needs sleep, right?) And truthfully I only have one complaint. The ending was a little too sweet for the tone of the whole book IMO. Not the epilogue, that was the right amount of sweet, but the ending when all hell broke loose. Somehow the sweetness between the MCs didn't sit right to me in that environment and with how things lead there. But overall that was a minor blip.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the family and their stories.

Something different

This is different from what I normally read. I haven't read anything from the OV or similar before but I really enjoyed it.
You got to see both characters grow and develop through the story and I loved that you got a dual POV.
I enjoyed the dynamic between 2 MCs and it was good to see a dominant Alpha recognise his Omega as his Queen and someone that will stand beside him.
Whilst 2 get a HEA or a HFN, there is still an unfinished plot that continues through the next books which I will enjoy reading along with the next fated mates!

Its a Dark Romance because of the Mafia line and the killings between thugs. Otherwise, this is a very vanilla relationship. I cant say it was steamy but it had the feel good falling in love feel to it if you like that. I wont be reading the rest of the series.

Contains: M/F, mafia, kidnapping, murder,
