Ohh Miss Marple seems to be a cute older woman who makes a wonderful detective. I look forward to reading more of her stories. Though this book did remind me that this book is definitely a product of its time, and one should remain cirtical of that.

A Miss Marple Mystery

Like any Miss Marple mystery, it's all about the ending.

Miss Marple is involved with the investigation from start to finish, and she must deduce what actually happened from the lies that people are telling her:

" 'What it came to', said Miss Marple, 'is, in essence, the fact that people are highly credulous. They believe what they are told. Yes, indeed, we are all inclined to do that.' "

This book is set during Marple's Caribbean vacation, and it is definitely aged by its descriptions of the locals (lots of racism in 1964). Also, a surprising number of scandals for that time period.

Audiobook notes: Emilia Fox is the perfect narrator for the Marple series. However, she does read very slowly (I solved this by increasing the play rate to 1.5x).

I think overall this was a pretty good mystery. Lots of twists and turns, I definitely fell for a red herring. Very interesting and I really loved more of the character we see in Miss Marple. Nice insight into her. Subtle humor.

Wasn't on board with the outdated views on things which was why I couldn't bring myself to give it a 5. But ohterwise, decent read.
