In the 4th grade I remember reading this at 6am and bawling my eyes out from the ending. I loathed Rose for her decision and I still do.

While I missed the Bones, this is one of my favourite entries in the series. Except for the font - it’s brutally hard to read. #old

It 2 days of her life so I wanted to know more. They did do a great job on it though.

Very, very different from BONE, which really works for giving Rose more depth. I was worried my kids would miss the humor, but they totally went for this darker story.

A prequel to the Bone series, it introduces the young Princess Ross, who appears as a feisty cow-racing grandma in later books.

A lovely addition to the Bone series. Charles Vess' illustrations (which I first saw in Neil Gaiman's 'Stardust) are beautiful and bring a nice new touch to a series I already know and love. 'Rose' provides a nice backstory for Gran'ma Ben, even though she seems little like the rough and tumble lady I grew to adore in the other nine books.

3,5/5. Quite interesting prequel to the Bone series, especially liked the art.

The Charles Vess artwork is wonderful, but this prequel/side story to Bone lacks the humor that I value so much in the main series.
