If you're like me and haven't read the Iliad before reading this, be prepared for a lot of heartbreak with this book. Had heard great things but no one warned me in advance and it was really, really hard to get through. Beautifully written, but painful.

It really immerses you into Greek mythology and the story of Troy and Achilles. I still really enjoyed reading it even though I knew the story of Achilles. I'm not used to reading books written in a first-person perspective so it felt disjointed to me and as if the narrator was distant, but it was still very well done!

The book was so incredibly written omg, the romance between patroclus and achillies was so beautiful and had me sobbing. The way patroclus described achillies gave me chills in the best way possible. The side characters also served great purpose in building up the story even without having much depth about them, they all felt very human, even the gods. A lot of people did not like the book but I know a lot did and I am one of them !! Please read it at least once, it's an unforgettable experience .

Amazing book. Truthfully. There’s nothing I can say about it that hasn’t already been said, but I truly enjoyed this. I felt every mistake, and I felt the connection those boys had. We can come together through a shared love of something. We can watch them make mistakes, and we can suffer, but we will love them, and we will love other through them.

Some parts are poorly written but most of it is really good.
Spoiler When they said they both die at the end I did not think it was literally going to happen, but guess what? They both really do die at the end. I was warned, I ignored the warning and now my heart has to pay for it. Tragic, really.

I usually go in blind when reading a book except for this one. I was actually excited how the story would go because I was promised pain but I didn't really feel anything at all. The way it ended is good but I feel like
Spoiler Patroclus' death was rushed in a way.

I was about to give it 3 stars but I'll give it justice because it was well written and I loved the characters.
