This is a truly beautiful love story following Achilles and Patroclus. It made my heart happy, had me in tears and tore at my heart strings. Madeline Miller really has a way with words, I will be reading more from her in the future!

The caring, devoted bond of the main relationship, and the grief of being a good person, the desperation for honour and fame, the fear of loss, are so heart-wrenching -- both in the sweetest and most painful ways -- and they fit together perfectly in romantic and blunt prose that held onto me and didn't let me go until the end. I'm so glad I read this so I could feel the joy and the tragedy and know the beauty of this story.

It really immerses you into Greek mythology and the story of Troy and Achilles. I still really enjoyed reading it even though I knew the story of Achilles. I'm not used to reading books written in a first-person perspective so it felt disjointed to me and as if the narrator was distant, but it was still very well done!
