I couldn't wait to read this one because it sounded interesting and different.

I thought this book could have been better but I enjoyed the story and it didn't take me long to read. It did keep me reading and all but not really something I would read again and again in the future but it was a decent read .

I do recommend .

I was approved on Netgalley for a free e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

DNF at 10%. I can't read any more. I found this browsing Netgalley and thought it sounded like a fun historical romance with a contemporary fairy tale twist. I like ghosts, time travel, and romance. I expected it to be a little cheesy but I didn't expect the writing to be so mediocre. The jokes were horrible and the 18th century ghost certainly didn't talk like someone from 18th century France. Plus he talked to himself and his ghost dog constantly. I felt removed and distant from the story, it was all telling and no showing. I couldn't feel any emotion! It was also distracting that everyone was described in terms of physical looks; every character, no matter how minor, was described as handsome, or beautiful, or good-looking, or attractive, or ugly, or not attractive. "The good-looking manager", etc. And Ella came of as much too perfect, with everyone else supposedly horrible.

Maybe I didn't give this enough of a chance but I really feel like I did. When you have a problem with the fundamental writing style, it's hard to move past that. I wish the story was executed better.
