I am here for the representation. Also glad I picked this up because it introduced me to The Runaways. Can't wait to read that series.

An absolutely wonderful collection of stories for anyone (regardless of sexual identity) to enjoy. It does a good job of introducing characters to fall in love with without having to know too much backstory. This book also includes Northstar's coming out issue and is a treat for long-time fans. Highly recommend as a method of teaching younger children about queer-ness.

A wonderful introduction to the diverse cast of lgbtq characters in the marvel comics. These type of stories in popular franchises are important, seeing this representation in marvel will always be a great thing and I’m looking forward to the next marvel voices pride volume coming out next month.

Guess this is what the Mousehouse is giving us since LGBTQ+ content is too adult for Disney+, while US Agent can decapitate a guy with Cap's shield on Falon & the Winter Solider, but whatever, violence is for kids, not queer smooches.

(This is a critique of the system, not the lovely writers and artists here who did what they could in the frame they worked with, and many of these characters I also love.)

I enjoy slice of life stories as a rule, so overall I had fun with this anthology - however, I agree with most of the other reviewers who have already pointed out that many of these stories either center little-known characters or focus on superheroes being "allies" instead of being queer themselves. The art and quality of the writing varies heavily from piece to piece, and a lot of moments felt like hooks to get readers to engage with OTHER comics, instead of actually focusing on the stories THIS comic was supposed to be telling us. It felt like Marvel was patting itself on the back a bit too much (although I do appreciate the interview that noted how indie and even DC comics had canon queer characters YEARS before Marvel did).

Overall, it's cute, but Marvel could've done better. They have the money and they have the time. I'm glad they decided to center queer voices but they shouldn't get brownie points just for releasing a pride issue - especially not when they're charging ten bucks for it.

"Because when our existence is relegated or coded, something as simple as a visible kiss can make history"

Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much, but it surprised me for the better. The stories were all very adorable, some of them even made me tear a little, and in general they all left me with a smile.

My favorites were Billy (Wiccan) and Teddy (Hulkling) Wedding Vows and the story of Mystique and Irene, but the rest of the stories also enchanted me and in fact some made me want more about certain characters, so I guess it fulfilled one of its functions
