Pretty sick of Billionaire romances. This one kind of broke the mold. FINALLY a FMC that is waaaaay more interesting than the MMC. Great banter

4.25 ⭐ Lots of great banter!

I didn't love the first couple of chapters, they just didn't pull me in. MMC's choices and reactions were questionable. But I pushed through confident it would get better and it did (once they made it to his family's house).

The ending felt a bit abrupt. They made up and then bam the end. I was hoping for more of a 'I love you' declaration sooner than the epiloge and even then it was only implied. There was also a lot of repetitive diolgue and inner thoughts throughout the book. I liked the other book a lot better.

Wow! This book is fantastic. What I loved:

It got me hooked from the very beginning, going straight into the plot and the characters. They have a decent reason to be enemies. There's a decently fast paced plot to keep it interesting, and it's pretty much character driven.

The FMC is really fun and relatable. Her inner monologue is hilarious at times but her back story is tragic. She felt real; I'd like to be friends with her.

The MMC is lovely. He starts off as the bossy, grumpy billionaire. But through the book you discover the other sides to his personality - love of his family, kindness and generosity, a brilliant sense of humour.

The banter is fantastic and their chemistry is off the charts. Even when they get to the “lovers” part of “enemies to lovers”, they tease and banter and wind each other up and it's gorgeous.

The spice is *incredible*. The dirty talking and praise kink are absolutely top tier. There's some BDSM, including temperature play, bondage, edging and spanking. Adrien has shades of “pleasure Dom” which I loved. It's confined to the bedroom (no D/s dynamics at all in their wider relationship) and they have safewords and after care. It didn't feel extreme or forced, it just worked for the characters and felt like they were having fun - none of the “cold experienced Dom with a shy virgin” which I feel is popular in billionaire BDSM books.

There is a third act breakup, which is to do with miscommunication, but again it made sense and didn't feel thrown in to add conflict. She has a *very good* reason to leave and it's not solved within 5 minutes.

I started highlighting favourite passages but had to stop because I was highlighting half the book! I think the main thing which made this book stand out was the characterisation and how they felt real, plus the fact their relationship felt very natural and none of the things which happened felt forced. Often I feel authors put in certain tropes or kinks to hit a target, even if it doesn't make sense for the characters - there was none of that here.

Tl;dr, this is one of the best books I've read - the characters feel real, likeable and human and I will be recommending it everywhere!

Cute! Not writing home about it or anything. Not Duel POV. Hate that.

God I loved this book. Honestly the plot of this is like 3 stars for its absurdity but IN MY HEART this was a 5 star book so I’m settling for 4 and reserve the right the bump it up.
