All I can really say is that this book was alright. Nothing really spectacular. I find myself mildly aggravated at the seemingly unnecessary tangents that seemed to be just for the sake of a tangent than to add anything to the story. Every situation seemed to have some random alien race to associate with, which seemed to detract from the established universe.

If you're a hardcore Hitchhiker fan, probably skip this one, otherwise it may be worth a read.

This feels like a medium-quality fan fiction - full of references and callbacks for no benefit to the story, but to let the reader know that the author knows them.
The story is alright, but falls apart towards the end, and the ending is about as bleak and pointless as the previous book's.

I didn’t hate this. It feels different from Douglas Adams, but not ridiculously so. The writing, plot lines, and dialogue are less inspired than the others, and and there are fewer silly nonsequiturs than I wanted. The ending was a little sad, but it was foreshadowed. I didn’t love the “guide note” - it felt like a weak way to follow in Adams’ footsteps

While surprisingly good, it just tries too hard to pay homage to prior books too much, and can't quite reinvent itself as much as all other volumes did.

I did enjoy reading it a lot, but it's too similar too previous books to ever be mistaken for Douglas's work, where each book was a completely unique take on that whole universe thing.
