Yes, I'm giving it five stars, for thoroughness, enjoyability, and interesting science. I listened to the audiobook because it got good reviews, and it was a book I would have read anyway, since I've been doing hot yoga for about thirteen years now. Hot yoga is one of those hobbies that makes you think a lot about sweat.

Lots of interesting stuff in here, about what's in sweat, what it does for us, other animals' methods of cooling down (I shared tidbits with my family, they were not impressed), health effects of frequent sweating (think saunas), history of attempts to combat sweat and its assorted odors. Even sweat-based dating.

There's something in here that ought to be interesting to just about anyone, and the narration was good, too.

I was fully prepared to not like this book. I don’t like to hear about bodily functions.

But surprise! I really enjoyed this book! I did in fact find joy in sweat. I listened on audio and my daughter was subjected to it as I drove her to all her activities and she found it interesting too. It’s really accessible and fun. I loved hearing about animals and how they regulate heat. I liked the chapter on saunas. I liked the chapter on using sweat to possibly test sugar levels for diabetics (they can’t yet but maybe one day!) I found it interesting and only got squeamish one time.

Overall definitely enjoyable! I think I would've preferred it if it had a bit more of a focus on athletic performance, but the amount it did have was good and I'd recommend it.
