I read this as part of the box set with Lucky and Cash. Jude is the third in the trilogy, Lucky is first, then Cash.

In brief: Isha is introduced in book 1, Lucky, as Dom's agent and friend. He's married with 2 children when we meet him but by the time of Jude he's separated happily from his wife and is now Dom's business partner and friend. Jude is a reptile specialist (and a friend of Rae's from book 2) who owns his own shop and meets Isha when he comes to the shop to plan a party for his son's birthday. Then they meet again through a hookup app and things develop from there.

I love how Jude's epilepsy is dealt with as a part of him, it's not what defines him, it's just something he has and deals with. Isha has his own set of issues with his children and not being out of the closet. They're both lonely in their own way and I loved them finding that little bit of happiness together and the heat between them is great too. Lucky remains my favourite of the series though, because Lucky and Dom are EVERYTHING and I loved seeing them again here, was a nice send off to a fun series.

Left off on this series after the last book for a while because of how in depth it had been about fox hunting. Felt like I’d have to be in the right mood to read extensively about reptiles, but as usual the author delighted me with another lovely story.

Loved Jude, liked Isha too.
Saw that some reviewers had a problem with Isha not coming out, they didn’t feel it was realistic under the circumstances, but I found that it didn’t bother me.

Enjoyable story.

**I received a digital arc for an honest review**

Jude by Garrett Leigh is the third book in the Lucky series and shows how a chance encounter can lead to true happiness. Isha lives in a world of numbers, money and power. Only recently has he been trying to also add his family back onto his priority list, so when his ex-wife asks him to coordinate their son’s birthday party at a reptile shop he says yes without knowing what he’s getting into. Jude runs his reptile shop on low funds and hope. He prefers snakes, lizards and other creatures to humans but he is intrigued by Isha who is so out of his element when planning his son’s birthday. By coincidence the two find each other on a hook up app and find they have chemistry in the bedroom. Isha isn’t out to the world so he tries his best to keep Jude in two separate boxes, the man his children obsess over and the man he obsesses over physically. But the two men’s relationship is so much more than that and while Jude knows he wants all of Isha he’s not sure his heart can handle waiting until Isha feels the same.

Isha as a character frustrated me. He was so confident in his working persona and had a supportive family and group of friends yet continuously felt the need to hide his queer side. Jude has the patience of a saint when it comes to Isha working his way towards accepting himself that when Isha pushes him away again and again AND AGAIN leading you to wonder if the relationship is meant to happen. Because of Isha’s wishy washy nature I didn’t connect with him and I felt myself dreading the next time he crushed Jude out of fear. Although he finds his way towards accepting himself and the importance of Jude in his world I think it was a little too late for me.

“I’m tripping over my words because I’m trying not to admit that I took a detour past the shop for no other reason than I wanted to see you.”

Jude is a strong person who just wants to support himself and the creatures he cares so deeply for. His health problems felt like a noose over his head even though he had it controlled so what happens shows everything can be temporary. His little ways to support Isha show his caring nature and the fact that he is able to break down the humongous walls Isha puts up show a commitment to the people who matter in his life. Jude’s charm and down to earth nature radiated from the pages and when he was crushed by the Isha’s repeated rejections I felt it in my bones with him. He deserves to be so important to Isha.

“The sexual chemistry between us was solid, but I craved his affection.”

I enjoyed this book because of Jude. Isha was a character that just repeatedly rubbed me the wrong way. The chemistry between the character sizzled and scorched each time they came together but all the back and forth became tiresome. After a while you found yourself asking Jude, is this really worth it and aren’t you tired of being tossed aside like a used napkin? I asked myself that so many times that when they finally made things work it was like, alright that could have happened so long ago if Isha wasn’t such a jerk.

3 stars for a slightly tiresome back and forth with this red hot couple.

Another exceptional story by Garrett Leigh!

I loved Jude and Isha! Garrett has a way of exploring the different aspects of being queer in different ways that are so poignant, endearing and relevant. This story resonated with me and I love that Garrett uses the word queer to describe sexuality in this series. I feel I don't fit in a sexuality 'genre/label' but I do relate to the word queer and only have positive feelings towards it, but I know some people don't like that word for various reasons. The use of queer in this story reflects Isha's truth and the care Garrett lends to Isha's story and struggles shine through.

Isha is trying to come to terms with his inability to share the fact that he's queer. While no longer in the testosterone-filled world as a sports agent and now working with Dom, he struggles with guilt and fear of betrayal by staying in the closet but is still struggling to come out. Once he meets Jude, all bets are off and his worlds collide!

I loved Jude! He was refreshingly real. A simple, introverted, reptile lover worried about finances and prefers animals to people, he was totally relatable! Isha has the ability to change all that. I loved Jude and Isha's interactions, their meet-cute, surprising mistaken identity hook-up that starts it all and their growing feelings for each other. I enjoyed the progression of the story and while the back and forth of Isha's give and take was frustrating it makes it all the more wonderful when he 'comes out' and drops the 'angst' and fear and just loves Jude and himself.

Garrett has created another wonderful story with real characters that each face their own challenges. I love the made family these guys have and Isha's children are adorable.

A highly recommended read! Loved it!

What an incredible book! Garrett Leigh is one of my favourite authors, and this book has just taken the top spot as my favourite of hers.... absolutely perfect! It made my heart ache in all the best ways! I actually feel sad that it’s over, and that I can’t read it again for the first time. It was brilliant and I adore Isha and Jude ❤️
