Gosh I love Rufus. NO ONE is concerned about what happened between Luke and Bode while he had him in the house?! That would be the main question I would be asking. Also someone should immediately notice something is off. A person cannot identically match mannerisms, speech, behavior, etc without longgggg term extensive studying so a family memebr should immediately notice something is wrong. Which makes this scenario completely unrealistc. The obliviousness is really a pet peeve for me.

Another day, another volume! This one started off on a bit of a misstep for me, but the ending was the strongest issue yet. Needless to say, I'm still hooked!

The Lockes are finding keys left and right now. But the Omega key still remains hidden from Zack/Luke/Dodge. He's trying to find it by any means possible.

In the meantime, things are falling apart in Kinsey and Tyler's lives, which seem to be crumbling around them as a result of using the keys.

But Zack/Luke/Dodge is sly and sneaky and very determined. Can the Lockes stop him before it's too late?

UPDATED REVIEW (11/25/2023):
UPDATED RATING (3.5 STARS)

I have pretty much the same feelings about this one as the first time I read it.

I wasn't a fan of the volume spanning so much time because it felt very rushed and not as well thought out as the previous volumes.

I also didn't understand the art style changes at the beginning of the volume, which I found kind of disorienting.

Still, it's a fascinating story and I'm excited to see what happens now that Zack/Luke/Dodge has managed to hijack Bode's body. Uh oh!

ORIGINAL REVIEW (12/22/2013):
ORIGINAL RATING (3.5 STARS)

In this volume a lot of stuff happens kind of quickly. The volume spans a good amount of time (5 months maybe?) and in that time frame a lot happens.

This was exciting to read about because the story moved forward exponentially in this volume. But, it also seemed like too much too fast. Almost like the writer wanted to cram a bunch of stuff in this volume in order to finish off the series quicker.

So even though I did really enjoy this one I'm a little dissapointed by the time lapse because I think that this could've easily been broken down into two (or more) seperate volumes that could've stayed a bit closer to the average pace of the first three volumes rather than picking up the pace like crazy.

As an example a lot more keys were discovered in this one and there are a few that weren't even really explained that much or ventured into.

Overall a good volume but bad because everything happened too fast. Still a great series though.

I can see why this series gets so much hype. It got darker and more intricate but like all good story tellers do, Hill gives answers where needed and creates more questions to keep the readers attention.

Well this was weird. The first few issue were really weird, the strange Calvin and Hobbs mix and the extremely skippy issue 2.
Also the way Tyler figures things out is very weird... This whole volume was just weird. It became a lot better in the end, but it was just so weird (especially since the show worked with the concept of dodge so much). And again, what's the logic behind the glass? It just doesn't make any sense. And Rufus seeing ghosts? Why?
I don't know, it just seems so weird. They were so close and now they're so far again. It's truly a bit frustrating.

I definitely hope the the 5th volume will be better, because this seems to be a bit disappointing - I was being annoyed with the series making stupid decisions, but maybe they learned it from the comic.

At least, now it's just the comics and the show probably "kept" the Volumes 4-6 for the second season (or they'll just go their way).
