Overall, pretty average book. But taking in the context and other lithuanian classics, it is very progressive for it's time, and something I have never read before. The pure idea of the novel is amazing. I liked analyzing Liudas perspective on priesthood, life, and finding patterns in his thinking. At times it was interesting, at times it was a pure drag, the ending was not at all what I expected. Was it worth reading this book a whole month? Haven't decided yet.

This book literally made me cry and as someone who doesn't read alot this was huge for me. The first chapter was very slow for me and I would've never predicted that I would give this 5 stars.. The last 50 pages had me STRESSING
