i read these books over and over when  i was a kid to the point that my volume completely fell apart. rereading then as an adult makes me so happy the story is so cute and adventurous. the character designs are so wonderful, mabelrose is a great role model and the message is really fantastic for people of all ages :)

I was surprised this wasn’t a Zondervan title. Unfortunately, terrible fantastical things keep happening to Mabelrose, but she keeps a good attitude and a strong prayer life throughout it. The artwork gave me a nostalgic anime Newgrounds feeling that’s mostly nice. Backgrounds are very nice and add to the world. There’s also lore/a difference between anthropomorphic characters and talking animals here.

Even though this had a dragon and talking magical creatures, it couldn’t keep my interest and I skimmed the last few pages. Sometimes, the text was overly crammed too. The plot points just moved too fast and Mabelrose was boring as a character.

This is a fairy tale world with all the different kingdoms from the fairy tales you've read. Mabelrose is a princess in one of the kingdoms. She is kidnapped by a dragon and decides she must escape and get back to her family. This is a great story of courage and friendship as she makes friends on her journey home.

A favorite from my childhood. Just as good as I remember. Littered with fairy tale references and so creative.

This was a 2.5 for me, I had a hard time caring about the characters. But the world was interesting.
