This felt unlike any book I have ever read. It took such a well known historical figure and explored his mind in a beautifully factionalized manner. Enard created a story that was grounded, philosophical, and deep. It was poetic in its simplicity of plot. I couldn’t recommend this enough, albeit, a reader would get much more out of this book with a knowledge of Renaissance eta Constantinople.
