This is the first book that I read with Kindergarten as part of the Doreen Cronin author study. I use it to talk about the setting of a story, but you could adapt it to many other uses. It is a fun read-aloud and the kids always love it.

When Farmer Brown's cows get a typewriter and demand electric blankets, Farmer Brown's refusal sets of a chain of events: cows on strike, chickens on strike, and a duck delivering ultimatums between Farmer Brown and the barn animals. Finally, Farmer Brown acquiesces to the demands, and the cows and chickens get their electric blankets.

A classic picture book with repetitive phrases (good for kids to join in on) and lots of humor. A great choice for storytime!
