More of a 2.5* really - not that struck by it really, the rats are a bit odd. Liked the character though.

[Read everything but "The Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath" and the "Silver Key" stories as Lovecraft's Dunsany dream fantasy stuff is my least favorite of his stories.]

Generally I found this to be the weakest of the three Penguin collections but there are still some good stories in here.

Favorite(s): From Beyond

"He was in the changeless, legend-haunted city of Arkham with its clustering gambrel roofs that sway and sag over attics where witches hid from the king’s men in the dark, olden days of the Province."

I get the Lovecraft hype now, that was SO good. Who wouldn’t want to read about a man being consumed by witchcraft, dreams, and the multidimensional cosmos? Gonna need to get my hands on more sci-fi horror asap
