Okay so the audiobook was okay. I think I only enjoyed it because I already love this book. This reread just further ignited my hatred for Joseph and Madrigal and my love for Billy and the queens. I cannot wait for the final book! 😻

HOLY CRAP! I need the second book in my life!! (I also really hope this is just a dualogy)
This book was definitely slow and a very foundational book, but that didn't bother me in the slightest. I really enjoyed reading about the queens and getting to know them up until the point of the quickening. I think my favorite is definitely Arsinoe with Katharine as a close second. I really didn't like Mirabella especially after her whole romance thing WHICH WAS ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT BTW. I was annoyed at first about how Arsinoe's chapters were told by Jules's perspective, but that later changed and I liked it much better.
Overall I reallyyy enjoyed this book. I'm expecting the second one to be much darker and gruesome and I honestly can't wait!! (A whole freaking year!! How will I survive??)

I stand by my orginal rating of 4.5 stars. I loveddd it, but I'm still annoyed by some of the things that happened. I understood a lot more things this read and I don't dislike Mirabella as much as I did the first time through. She still makes really stupid choices though. Joseph is absolute garbage and I want him to disappear and rot and I hope all the queens band together and murder him slowly. I'm so happy I can just dive into One Dark Throne like right now cause I HAVE AN E-ARC!!! I'm so happy. I can not waittt to find out what happens.

This book was such a drag.
I was quite into it until a specific point where the whole ass story turned into a cheap soap opera, and I forced myself to finish it to see if it got better. It did not.
I don't even care to see who is crowned in the end, just let them all stay where they are.

I didn't care about this but the last couple of chapters made me want to read the next book. Great plot twist at the end there.

I wanted to like this one more. The plot was actually a bit slow and boring. It wasn't terrible and I'll probably read the rest of the series.

What a great read. This book was has an interesting plot 3 princesses with different gifts that are to fight to the death and it all starts when they are 16. I had a hard time the first time when I read this book because it is a slow read for about 75% of the book. But when the story picks up and takes off its amazing. The twists and turns the story takes, The love triangle that puts two princesses together before their time., and The political portions of things going on behind all 3 soon to be queens gives the back story that is needed in this book. The author does a great job at world building and creating different worlds and places for each gifts that each princess has. This book is told in 3rd person so you really get a sense of the strong female friendships each queen has in this book. The ending will leave you wanting to pick up book two asap. I know I did : ).

Kind of a 3.75 I expected to really love it and was a little bit disappointed by the beginning. I still very much enjoyed it although I did see some (not all of them though) of the plot twists coming. The ending was interesting though
