I like Strout and I loved Olive Kitteridge the novel. Although I did not enjoy this book as much, there were still plenty of wonderfully beautiful moments in this book. Strout's writing is, as always, descriptive. Some of her sentences are so perfect that they capture your breath. Olive is endearing, even here. I liked the first portion of this book more than the last half.

Olive with all of her persnicketiness, quirkiness and bluntness is always an entertaining delight! Listened to the audio version but was unable to indicate this as Goodreads seems to be having its own quirkiness these days.

More cohesive than the first - it works well enough as a stand alone novel that I fully recommend skipping Olive Kittredge entirely. I found this book wholly more relatable and enjoyable, it felt like it delved into a broader range of human emotion, reflecting on life's experiences and relationships. I appreciated the introspection Olive developed over the book, in addition to her sass and caring nature.
