Indispensable if you're working in the humanities. It's much less unwieldy to use than the full Chicago manual of style, though it doesn't contain everything; much of its references are confined to either UK or US contexts, and if you're writing about other areas, you may need to seek out another resource.

I was required to purchase this book for one of my graduate school courses and didn't expect to find it as helpful as I did, but wow this book has everything. It is clear, interestingly written, and extremely helpful for people in academia. It goes beyond just the Chicago style to offer all sorts of writing advice and I'm thoroughly glad that I read it.

A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations: Chicago Style for Students and Researchers by Kate L. Turabian – My deepest sympathies for anyone in a discipline where they have to write their papers in this style when MLA makes so much more sense. But this is an excellent guide! Happy Reading!
