Short, sweet, sad, heavy, a delicate look at a consuming girlhood friendship, prose so affecting and beautifully ugly in a way that I haven’t read in a while, I liked how the big things were small and the small things were big, a sleepy look at nostalgia where nothing extraordinary happens yet when I finished it I felt the weight of a rock in my chest

I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this book. It is thoroughly sad in the way that people who have left small towns and outgrow them and return to find out that nothing has changed feel sad. Maybe I was just sad while reading it. It is beautifully well written and interesting in many ways, I'm just not certain that it summed to anything.

I hope I can update this review later.

I wanted a little more- I think! I did not get as attached as I wanted to the characters, but loved the exploration of girlhood, female freinds, the female effect on males, etc.  weird girlhood vibes
