For a book that promises you lots of laughter I found it to be the most dull book I've read to date. I would say it's quite unfathomable how boring I found this book. Even the kings fool would make a better job at entertaining me.
While it did produce a few chuckles including a couple of funny lines, it was completely ruined by what I would describe as a stupendously unintersting story.
I would not for the life of me read this again. Nor would I want to eat olives again, but that is a different matter.

One of the funniest books I’ve read or listened to. I have a lot of nostalgia for this story because of the movie so I can’t lie, that probably played a lot in my enjoyment of this. But overall I still think it’s a wonderful science fiction story with some great social commentary and witty humor. Only things keeping it from a 5 star: I wish there had been more development between Arthur and Trillian, and I wish there had been a more definitive ending (both of which I feel the movie did better).

Thoroughly entertaining, this book seems simple and funny but is strangely profound the more you read.

A solid introduction to sci-fi if you generally don't read sci-fi like me. I like how much is relevant 40 years later when "touch-sensitive" technology and voice assistants with personalities are considered normal. Alongside several cultural references and innovations, the description of a creator of planets reminds me of Bezos' plan to create colonies with specific controlled climates.

I found the story fun and quirky, and imagined each scene like a sitcom vignette with Adams' dry humor waiting for a punchline. The story does end abruptly, but it doesn't feel unfinished since there are several books coming after.
