The book was outstanding. I was on my guard because of the temporal "danger close", but the authors acknowledge it openly and present their case in an well-documented, empirical way that sticks to what we CAN know at this point. They are very precise, fair-minded, and charitable, making concessions where appropriate and acknowledging opposing viewpoints. Overall, they are careful to say only what they can support with data and direct quotations.

The governmental "cure" for the COVID-19 pandemic has been undoubtedly worse than the disease up to this point. Overreaching government lockdowns have destroyed more than any virus ever could. I, like the authors, hope that Western humanity learns the right lessons.

Favorite quote:
"Despotism, if it arrives on our shores, may not come wearing a swastika or hammer and sickle, or even a blue helmet. It could come bearing promises of safety, enlightenment, and stock options."

I'd like to refute their points but I can't. We made a huge mistake demanding measures and lockdowns. The best we can do now is not repeat the mistake.
