The story meandered alot, especially in the middle. It felt like we spent alot of time on mundane things and then not enough time during crucial moments. I enjoyed the characters but it felt like they were held at a distance so their actions and motivations were hard to understand sometimes. I feel like "lost the plot" is an accurate description of this book. So many random things were going on amd it felt like there wasn't enough urgency surrounding the main plot of saving Lore's home. I just think this book could have done with better editing so it would flow better and be a little more coherent. But it's a debut and I think the next book will be better!

Lore of the Wilds is book one of a new cottage-core fantasy romance with Fae and humans. Young human Lore is taken from her village by a Fae lord who needs her to access an enchanted to library in the Fae lands. She does this on the promise of assistance being provided to her village. But nothing in the hostile Fae world is what it seems. Tropes include hate to love, forced proximity and found family.

The Lovely: The world building is probably my favorite part of this book, from the multi-sense descriptions of physical places to how the magic is described. I liked how the nature element and magic were intertwined. The physical places are vivid - not just in terms of describing the scenery but also in terms of the food, the smells and the sounds.

The Mundane: Plot-wise a lot happen in what was a relatively short book, However, sometimes the tension seemed to get stuck while we waited for the the next thing to “happen.” These were pretty short blips though. In addition, the book ends on a major twist/cliffhanger.

The Dreadful: The characters were interesting but came across as a bit too perfect (except Finn). Aside from her magic, I didn’t really see Lore grow and develop as a character that much. While the author provides a nice view of Lore’s inner thoughts, it also seemed like Lore quickly moved past struggles and distressing events with barely a second thought.

Rating: 4/5 stars 2/5 flames
Recommendation: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is an immersive reading experience that fills the senses. Having read a lot of romantasy books this year, this book is unique. It’s not exactly “cozy fantasy” as there is a lot of drama, angst, tension and some violence, but it has magical cottage-core vibes. If you want a lighter feeling romantic fantasy, especially with earth magic, I think you would love this book.

This is an absolute lovely debut that is lush with cottage core vibes!!!

The entire read is fast paced and keeps your interested and captivated. The diverse cast of characters are lovely and frustrating and hilarious!

The descriptions of settings were wonderfully done and I felt like I was in the Wilds beside Lore picking mushrooms and flowers

First I want to thank the author for giving me a #gifted early e-book of Lore of the Wilds! Also, just look at this cover! That alone sucks you in!

This book is a Romantasy full of sexy Fae, mystery, a beautiful magic system, and adventure!

Read if you…
• Love enchanted forests
• Elemental magic
• want to read something with diverse characters
• want something different in the fantasy world
• are looking for a book about books/a large library/magical books.

Sbrana kept me wanting more! By the end of it I couldn’t believe it was just book one of two. The world building is phenomenal and so interesting I mean a human village trapped in this magical world (with no magic of their own) and a girl who is willing to risk it all to save her people? Yeah totally badass.

I fell in love with the characters and had my heart torn out. Even though I knew something sketchy was going to happen it still hurt to see it unravel. With that being said it was executed beautifully! And honestly I love the whole touch her and die trope that slowly pushes its way into the book. If you what I mean then you know who my favorite character is. Give me brutey sexy men all day! 😍

In case you didn’t realize it, I really enjoyed this story. If/when you read it please DM me! 😍

Pub date: Sept. 5th, 2023!

I already have a hard copy ordered! I can’t wait! ♥️

I was so excited to see Ana's book come to fruition. While I enjoyed the overall premise,  it is just not quite there yet with development and editing.
The pacing is way off, and we spend too much or too little time in each plot point. The characters seemed rushed and loosely developed and it was hard to feel connected to any of them.
Much more is needed to understand the drive of some of the characters and the details of the world.
