Just about everything here was also printed in other collected graphic novels. Sure some of these are pretty good stories worth reading twice but others are not. It left this book less than a whole and really not worth reading. So not bad, but just not good. Individually the stories had pretty good writing and art, but as a whole the book could have used better editing.

After reading Infinity, I just wanted to get through the Avengers Assemble issues of this collection. Part of my lukewarm response to Infinity and this HC is that I'm not a huge fan of team books, cosmic stuff, or giant events. Hickman's Infinity and Avengers Assemble storylines felt intentionally morose, and it felt to me like he was over-reaching in his attempts to construct a "deep," complex story. I enjoyed the lighter issues of this collection a lot better, especially the ones with Spider-Girl, and, surprisingly, The Hulk issues.

For me this was worth reading to make sense of the Inhumans (as the Terrigen mist is now affecting so many different Marvel stories and characters), but the collection as a whole felt over-long and only of sporadic quality. I liked getting an introduction to characters I hadn't previously been familiar with - like Spider Girl, She-Hulk, and Luke Cage & Jessica Jones (and baby!)

Very little actual Inhumans. After reading Infinity and FF I was really excited by reading more stuff around Attilan but no, instead I got teen beat Spider-girl, weak x-men stuff and castoff avengers. Sigh. The terrigen mist and the people actually impacted by it meant very little as it was all just scenery to trot out b-team heroes around. Eh.

For such a large volume, there really isn't that much to recommend. It starts off with an ominous and engaging prophecy from Karnak, who sees how the terrigen bomb from Infinity could lead to the destruction of the planet, and then doesn't go anywhere. We've got bits of Medusa trying to hold the Inhumans together now that Black Bolt and Maximus have gone missing, which are the only really interesting bits. We've got a few vignettes of people turning into Inhumans, often in horrifying manners. There are a couple of stories about family and acceptance and bullying and stuff like that, and those are all almost nice but all marred by some weird plot device or something.

If this had been a focused story leading off of the Karnak part in the beginning, I can pretty much guarantee it would be at four or five stars from me. As is, there are a few decent stories in here but it's mostly a miss.

This was a really fascinating look at one event and my review seems to differ completely from the other reviewers which I think is because I am not a comics reader really, or at least not one who obsesses over story lines and shit like that. I mean, shouldn't this BE disjointed and have varying degrees of success, it's just basically an anthology, like a short story collection? I loved the idea of pulling together the multiple POVs and story lines from one event into a huge volume and I think this worked really well for me.
