I had high hopes for this book after reading many positive reviews. However, I was really let down and should have DNFed it.

500 pages spanned years and years of events. The first chapter alone was 15 years condensed. Somehow in 500 pages, everything happened but also nothing happened. All of the character development seemingly happened off-page through time jumps. The entire story was basically internal monologue and lacked description of the world around them. The only descriptions really were of pain and of clothing. The majority of the characters were plot devices, the love interests lacked depth, and the main character was just irritating - everything went her way all the time even when it went wrong, internal conflicts went on for paragraphs by which point I had forgotten why she was conflicted. I also felt that the last chapter was completely unnecessary, it did not move the story along any further.
