This book has a lot of potential. Spice and romance with a twist. It just was written too fast. You couldn’t tell how much time had passed. It was well written, though. I was given a copy by NetGalley for an honest review. I am a little disappointed, the blurb makes it sound like it would be a great book.

I love badass FMC but my absolute favorites, are the ones who make decisions that most would not. They are spontaneous and their vibe is “F*!k it, I’m here, why not?” This is Raven.

Raven ends up crossing over the veil into the Fae world and spends months just trying to survive. One day, she comes face to face with the prince, who offers her an absurd deal and she attempted to lie her acceptance. He knows better, but spends his short time with her, proving this is where she belongs.

How does he try to convince her? Well, that’s the fun part of the story that I can give away

This story is short and to the point. If you're looking for a very quick read about fae this is the best option. When I originally requested an arc of this book, I enjoyed the summary and I was excited to read it. When my arc request was approved I then realized how short the book actually was. Reading the story it had all the aspects of a fae romance. A fae prince. A mortal woman in fae. Sex. Magic. All these aspects would make for an interesting story. Especially the part of the origins of the fae.

However, since the story was less than 100 pages, I couldn't really get a sense of the plot. Sometimes people complain that there's too much random writing throughout the book and they can't grasp what the plot is. To me, this book presented the opposite, there wasn't enough writing. All the main ideas that were presented, show that this could be a very interesting story.

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I had to DNF this book when the FMC begged Jesus for forgiveness during her orgasm. The spicy scenes that I did manage to get through were so awkward and uncomfortable due to the tell-not-show writing style, the lack of bike up or chemistry between the characters, and the old-fashioned style of speech. It was also uncomfortable because the beginning of the first major spicy scene is from the MMC’s pov, and I felt like I needed to be in the FMC’s head since it was dub-con-ish.
I get that it’s more of a novella than a novel and so the pacing has to be fast, but there was just nothing to make me feel like she actually wanted to be with the MMC. And I’m usually here for breeding kink, dub-con, etc.
A good chunk of the beginning was spent on the world/setting and very little on the relationship or character. The writing was choppy and felt unedited, with strange word choices and a very conversational tone.
It also gave me the ick that she was a virgin. Just not for me.

Fantasy romance involving a mysterious and dark Fae King and a human woman Raven.
Considering how short the story is, there is a lot of world building and it pulls you straight into the world. The Fae King was deliciously dark and snarky. I loved that Raven gets to embrace who she really is and what she really wants.
If you like fantasy, romance, spice, fated mates, Fae and you're in the mood for a quick read, give it a go.
