I have read several movie novelizations before and generally I like them a lot. While this was no different, it probably is my least favorite of that genre.
If you are looking for an almost scene for scene book version of the movie, this is for you. You do get more insight to some things that are confusing in the movie. Such as why Sarah is in the park acting out scenes from a book, her thought process involving Jareth, how she actually feels about Toby, and how she starts to figure out the labyrinth.
You also understand more on why Jareth wants Toby, what he thinks of Sarah, how he feels about the goblins, and why he does the things he does.
Also because it's a book, there's no songs that the wonderful David Bowie performs. So a few scenes are extended to add normal dialog and descriptions.
There are a few extra scenes added here and there. Such as the immediately behind the doors with the face knockers.
All in all I really enjoyed the story. I love the movie, but the book was slightly boring because it was so similar to the movie. So I knocked off a star for that.

I love this telling of the story and I adore the drawings and journaling in the back!

I really loved this. The things that were added were great additions that actually added to the story. The things that they removed or glossed over weren't necessary for the story. There were some typos but not enough to drop this a star. A quick read to be sure, but very enjoyable.

It's exactly the movie in book form!!! Good luck getting your hands on this one though. It's out of print, and really expensive to order online. My copy cost 50$, and personally I think it was worth every penny.
