Sheila Heti takes so many thoughts that I have also had about having children and makes them into beautiful sensible sentences in this perfect book. Even the thoughts that are in conflict with each other manage to make sense.

I am trying to figure out a way to absorb this book into my body somehow.

I may actually eat it.

Look…. I understand structurally and thematically what is going on here and yet honestly, as a story it suffers from bad boyfriend disease.

I’m so glad I read this book now, in my early 30s. It hasn’t necessarily answered questions, rather I feel as though it has clarified what those questions are for me. Motherhood is all at once intensely personal and universal.
