At first I wasn't sure whether I wanted to continue reading this series. Book 1 was oké, but not great. But I was in the mood for a vampire book so I decided to continue reading this series and I am glad I did. Book 2 is better than book 1, it immediately starts with a nice and unexpected twist.

The story get's a little better and we do get to see more vampire action. Also because I already knew the characters, it was easier getting into this book. There where still parts where I thoughts the author used a bit of a funny way to describe things, but I didn't laugh out loud like in the first book. It is a quick read and the story is good, but not great and I still wanted to keep reading. The pace is most of the times pretty fast, but at some parts can be a bit too slow.

I liked seeing more of the characters and find out some big things about them in this book. Although I have to admit I still don't like the lead character, she just is a bit too whiny and feels sorry for herself a bit too often.

The ending is also just enough of a cliffhanger that I want to know what happens next. I am interested to see what happens to the characters now.

To conclude: it's a nice story, not great ,but still addictive. Book 2 is certainly better than book 1 and now I am interested to see hwat happens next. And if you are looking for a nice vampire story I would recommend this book.

As a teen, I loved Jack, but as an adult…that man is a boy and that boy is a selfish idiot.

Overall not a bad series... Not particularly a great one either but was interesting enough to make me keep reading. Not sure if it was just my versions that I bought, but there seemed to be a lot of mistakes, like spelling, grammar, even having words around the wrong way, which kept me from getting lost in the world amanda hocking created. Unfortunately it was very PG (if that even) but other than that, was ok. Would recommend to younger sisters etc. but definitely not the best choice for more mature readers.

*Contains spoilers from first book*

Peter has yet to return after nearly killing Alice. She does miss him, but finds herself getting closer to Jack. Alice and her brother, Milo, spend a lot of their summer vacation with Jack and his vampire family. Jack and Milo are goofing around on the deck, and Milo hurts himself to the point of almost dying.

Alice gets Jack to turn them, and is constantly worried until she sees that Milo is okay. Okay enough for being a newly-made vampire. Milo seems okay until Alice tries to get near Jack. Apparently, newly-made vampires get attached to the vampire that turned them. She quickly becomes jealous of Milo getting to spend time with Jack, especially since Ezra thinks it’s best that Alice spends more time at her house and that she should wait a couple of years to run.

Milo tries to help her out of her funk and goes with her and Jack to a vampire club, where they find vampires wanting to take a bite or two of Alice.

I didn’t like this one as much as the first one, but then again Peter wasn’t in this one as much as I would have liked. I still don’t think Jack is right for Alice, but then again, Peter shouldn’t be since he did try to kill her in the first. I love him anyway, though! I still have trouble buying Jack’s and Alice’s relationship.

I don’t know if it’s just missing sparks or what. I did feel frustration at Jack and Milo, when Milo first turned. It was necessary because Milo did need Jack’s help learning how to be a vampire. I hope I’ll get to read a lot more about Peter in the next book.

I'm pleasantly surprised as Book 2 is much improved over Book 1. As I see occur a good bit, the author finally gets their stride and their writing grows up with the story.

Fate sees Alice struggle with the events that occur and put a wrench in her plans. She also has to deal with her feelings for both Jack and Peter. Some things happen which I can't say, because spoilers. These things lead to a dangerous mission to bring Peter home and leaves many people stressed, jealous, and trying to deal with all the rule set upon them because of their lifestyle.

I really, really like the "leading man" in this series. He's just so normal. He's of course ridiculously handsome, but he just behaves like a regular guy with regular emotions. He's not overly romantic (maybe a bit more than normal guys, but not typical paranormal romance level) and he's just really great.

I'm also not one to dislike insta-love (I'm here for the fantasy people) however, I like the slow burn of this one. It's nice that it's progressing fairly normally and the forced distance is always good for brewing a love story. Of course, I'm also really happy with the heroine of the story actually picking the right guy, for now. I'm not totally convinced she won't switch allegiance, but for now she's at least on the right path and I'm not actively screaming at my book wishing she wasn't so stupid.

The characters are starting to come into their own in the series and I'm starting to really enjoy it. I'm glad I stuck with it because I've been happy with the story and I can't wait to read the rest!

AHHHHHH! I need to be addicted to another series like I need a hole in the head! I like this one a lot, regardless of it being a carbon copy of Twilight! This one had so much more action and character interaction. I didn't believe the reviews at first when they said this one was action packed but boy was I wrong! I love Jack <33! But I do feel terribly bad for Peter. This is such a new concept for me to be rooting for both guys WHAT?! Ugh! Can't wait to read the last two books and see how this all pans out.

why am I still spending my money on these I totally root for Peter I’m sorry

For one, Jack KNEW Alice wasn’t for him. He basically betrayed his brother.

Secondly, HE KNEW HE SHOULDNT HAVE DONE THAT TO ALICE. FOR REAL.

Thirdly, the end? Really? It’s basically rape. Fuck. That.

Fourthly, I genuinely don’t think Peter is a bad dude alright.

SpoilerI read spoiler reviews for the next two books. I’m not wasting my money. She doesn’t end up with Peter. It’s like the disappointment of Nightshade all over again. I can’t handle this shit. I like hocking but goddamn. Frostfire and Konstantin and now this shit?

Fuck off. Stop taking my money.
