i probably should have DNFd this but i got too far in to give up.
Ultimately all of these stories left me unsatisfied and i kept asking what even was the point, it didn't feel like there was any message to them or that Schweblin was even trying to say something. i didn't give one story above a 3 stars.
it could be a problem of the translation im not sure, overall wasn't a good time and that's very unfortunate.

I was misled by the Goodreads shelves: quite a few people have tagged this one as horror, but it really isn’t. In my opinion this is pure literary fiction. The book contains 7 stories, 6 short ones, and one longer story. I definitely liked the longer story, Breath from the Depth, the best. Some of the others were okay, and some didn’t work for me at all. Since I preferred the longer story, that makes me hopeful I’ll like Schweblin’s full length novels better.

All seven stories are entertaining and thought-provoking.
- The first three stories and the seventh are great.
- Story #4 held my attention from beginning to end.
- Story #5 was a bit confusing for me to be honest—it definitely deserves a reread.
- And story #6 had me on edge the whole time! Even after the story wrapped up, I was still a little nervous.
