I really enjoyed this book. Is it a piece of classic literature? No. But did I enjoy the heck out of it? Yes. ✅Was there spice? Yes.✅ Was there actual character growth for such a short story? Yes✅. Was there a third act breakup? Technically kind of, yes, but I was rooting for them the whole time and was so proud of the FMC for holding her ground for what she deserves!
This is a FWB trope but both main characters have pretty valid reasons to be making the choice to date that way. Ally managed to flesh out really solid, like-able, realistic characters in a really short book. The brother-relationship, female-friendships, the spousal-relationship, the family dynamic - all of them were really well done without being overbearing.
I was really glad to read a FMC that was surrounded by solid friendships, stuck to her guns about her self worth, and seemed to have a normal third act break up reaction and didn’t turn melodramatic just for the sake of it.
Can’t wait to recommend to my book club!!

Thanks to Ally Williams, I was able to receive an ARC for her debut novel!
CONTENT WARNINGS: Explicit sexual content, foul language, a parent with advanced dementia, and the sexual assault of a side character.
I loved this book, it was such a fun time! I especially find books that focus on the MCs jobs to be very interesting, even though I don’t understand the half of it.
And oh my god, the bows! I was kicking my feet when he first picked up her bow and then returned it to her later. And then he continued to buy her more bows? AWWWEEEEE
I enjoyed how realistic the MCs were, both flawed but refreshing to say the least. Although, when Charlie first made his proposal, he gave me the ICK! But I can put it aside for the sake of him just being a book boyfriend (if this happened to me irl, I would grab my pepper spray and start running) c:
One of my favorite things about this book is how it focused on the friends-with-benefits aspect. It didn’t rely solely on the benefits part, but more on the friends part. They actually confided in each other about things in their daily lives (like friends actually do). I adored that about Charlie and Annabel. Although I will not lie, I would have loved more detailed spice (coming from a girlie who loves some chemistry)
It was a nice, cozy slice of life read. I was empathizing with all the characters (minus Layla–out the window) and it broke my heart to read about Charlie’s mom.
I enjoyed this book and will for sure be tuning in to the rest of the series c;

ARC review! *Some spoilers ahead*
I really enjoyed the dual-POV of the book because it was nice to knoe what each character was going through/thinking/etc. in each scenario/period of time. I think it helped develop each character's individual story and plot, but I would have liked to get to know them a little better. I also feel like I didn't really get to watch the characters fall in love or receive any context for why they did aside from just sleeping together (and so frequently, at that).
That being said, I think the sexual scenes were rushed and not fully developed. At times, it was even confusing what was happening because the author seemed to shy away from details even though there's a content warning in the beginning of the book.
I enjoyed the fact that the MMC's mom had dementia and we got to see that representation and how that affected him, but her existence in the story was really inconsistent, and after the climax of the book, I don't think she was mentioned a single time.
While it did fall short for me personally, I would still recommend this book fo readers if this genre.

Things We've Lost & Found by Ally Williams was a fun and sometimes emotional story I felt was medium paced. Annabel has been cheated on by 3 boyfriends and is done with men. That is until she finds herself stuck in an elevator with Charles Sinclair, but what happens when what was supposed to be a friends with benefits fling turns into something more? This book is full of laughs, spice, and emotions as one character navigates terminal illness within the family. I 100% recommend this book to anyone who enjoys spicy romance. TWLAF is also book 1 in a 5 part series, I know who I'm hoping to see in the next book! Thank you Ally for my free copy of your book in exchange for an honest review! 💜

I genuinely loved this book! The characters were lovable from early on in the story. They felt like real people in a believable situation and I so badly wanted them to be happy at the end. Luckily this is described as a HEA so I knew it would all end up ok in the end. My only complaints are that the term baby is overused, as well as names in conversation as a whole. I’ve never had a real life conversation where I say someone’s name every sentence, so that could have been altered slightly to go along with the realistic aspects of the story.
I can’t wait to see where the next books in this series takes us.
