I really didn't enjoy this book as much as I wanted to. I live and work in this town, but I'm still new and I wanted more info about the town's history. Unfortunately it was mostly just describing the postcards that were discovered from these different time periods. It felt like I was reading a history book, but only focusing on photos and the captions of those photos. There was something missing that would've made this book more cohesive. That being said, the final two chapters felt more cohesive then the previous chapters. Those two chapters focused on something that the cards were able to bring to life, such as the seasons or daily life.

Like I said, I really wanted to like this book. I grew up visiting Mystic and now it's my home. I also met the authors and I really enjoyed hearing them speak. They talked more about how they were able to write this book and about how they were able to date the postcards. They also talked about their personal history with the area. I might've liked this book better if it was more about the history of postcards or the history of Mystic, instead of just about historic Mystic postcards.

I do recommend this book for those who want to dip their toes in our local history, but not for anyone who wants a deeper look.
